THREE: Listen Carefully On Auction Day
Familiarize
yourself to one of the bid assistants (referred to as a ring
person) who is working in the area you have chosen. The job of
the bid assistant is to be there for you! They will relay
bid to the auctioneer, answer questions, and help you as
needed.
As the auction opens on the property of
interest, offer an opening bid, often
this is not your top price, but a reasonable start. Several people may be bidding at first, but as the price
increases, most will drop out. Each time a bid is recognized
from another person, you must decide whether or not to continue
bidding. If your answer is yes, hold your bid number card or
your hand in the air. Do not hesitate to call out to a bid if
you don't think they have noticed you. Auctions move at a fast
pace and if you let yourself go unnoticed, you may miss out on
the winning bid.
Remember!
The worse thing you can do at an auction is not attend. Invariably, the
property you were interested in will sell for less than you were willing
to pay. View:
